About Echoes: Margins
Echoes: Margins (the "app") is a single-player text adventure published by Velos Ventures LLC. The app is sold as a one-time purchase on the Apple App Store and Google Play. There are no accounts, no in-app purchases, no subscriptions, no advertising, and no third-party tracking.
Information We Collect
The app does not collect, transmit, or share any personal information. It makes no analytics calls, no telemetry calls, and no third-party network requests of any kind.
Velos Ventures LLC has no servers that receive data from the app, and we cannot see your save state, choices, progress, or any other information about how you play.
Where Your Story State Lives
The app stores your in-progress story state on the device you are playing on.
On iOS and watchOS, your iPhone and Apple Watch keep their copies of the story in sync directly with each other while they are paired and within range. This sync uses Apple's WatchConnectivity framework and travels over the local Bluetooth or Wi-Fi link between the two devices; no Velos Ventures or third-party servers are involved, and the data does not pass through iCloud.
Separately, if you are signed in to iCloud and have iCloud enabled for Echoes: Margins, your iPhone also backs up its story state to your private iCloud account so it can be restored if you set up a new iPhone. The Apple Watch app does not communicate with iCloud directly. iCloud storage is managed by Apple under your Apple ID and is not accessible to Velos Ventures LLC.
On Android, story state is stored only on the device. The Android version does not include cross-device sync.
Notifications
The app uses local notifications to deliver paced story passages. These are scheduled and delivered entirely on your device by the operating system; no push servers are involved.
- On iOS and watchOS, the system asks for notification permission on first launch (UNUserNotificationCenter).
- On Android 13 and later, the system asks for the POST_NOTIFICATIONS permission on first launch.
You may deny or revoke notification permission at any time in your device settings. The app remains fully playable without notifications; passages are still delivered when you open the app.
Permissions
The app requests no permissions other than the optional local notifications prompt described above. It does not access your contacts, photos, location, microphone, camera, calendar, health data, or device identifiers.
Children
Echoes: Margins carries an age rating of 9+ on the Apple App Store and a comparable IARC rating on Google Play. The app does not collect any information from any user, including children. It contains no chat, no user-generated content, and no advertising.
Security
Because the app collects no information and makes no network requests outside of Apple's iCloud service on iPhone (which Apple secures under its own platform terms) and the local WatchConnectivity link between a paired iPhone and Apple Watch, there is no user data in our possession to protect.
Changes to This Policy
If the app's behavior changes in a way that affects this policy (for example, if a future update introduces analytics, crash reporting, or a backend service), we will update this page and update the corresponding privacy declarations on the App Store and Google Play before that version is released. Continued use of the app after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
